- The study is to test the validity of industrialization for achieving economic growth in Turkey and also in six European Union (EU) countries with the data available. Six EU member countries are chosen as Austria, Finland, France, Netherland, Romania, and Sweden. For the data collection the time period is taken between 1980-2013; and for the study an econometric analysis has been prepared. First ADF test has carried out to determine the type of stationary and then OLS and Granger’s causality tests has conducted to examine the relationship between the growth of manufacturing sector and the growth of economy. As a result of analysis it could be indicated that industrial value added exerts statistically positive and significant long term effects on real output in all of the selected countries; however, this effect is lower in the case of Turkey as compared to the other European Union countries.
