In order to detect plagiarism in academic studies, the iThenticate-Plagiarism Prevention Program has been opened for access at our university by TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM. It is used to automatically determine the rate of cheating (plagiarism) in articles produced by universities at academic level; student HOMEWORK and THESIS should not be used for plagiarism detection. The program has a comprehensive academic content directly related to the evaluation of academic publications (excluding student assignments). It is used with a web-based interface without the need for special training. The document to be analyzed for plagiarism is easily uploaded by the user to the iThenticate program just like attaching a document to an (@neu.edu.tr) e-mail; plagiarism analysis can be completed within a few minutes. Each document uploaded to iThenticate is compared with documents in a large database. In this database, there are more than 90,000 important newspapers, magazines, periodicals, and books as well as more than 17 billion web pages and archives. iThenticate checks databases comprising over 30 million content from more than 70,000 scientific journals and over 86 million articles from more than 150 publishers. Publisher partners include major publishing houses such as CrossRef, Gale, Emerald, ABC-CLIO, SAGE Reference, Oxford University Press, IEEE, Elsevier, Nature Publishing, Ovid, Taylor & Francis, PubMed, Pearson, McGrawHill, Wiley, and EBSCOhost.
